I used to think a
21 day detox was too long, and that I would not be able to stick to
it for such a long period. However a 21 day program is likely to be
a gentler more progressive detox than the shorter, stricter version.
I have not attempted the detox program below, but if
you decide to, you will boost energy levels, shrink your stomach,
lose weight and increase your mental clarity.
I needed more than a spoonful of medicine to solve my
weight issues
There are many versions of the 21 day detox program
out there, but in my opinion the following version is the most
simple, cheap and effective.
21 Day Detox Program
For the first five days of the diet cut out all processed
foods, sugars, alcohol, meat, dairy products, wheat products, or any
food derived from an animal or fish.
(Oh, forgot to mention, you must also stop smoking!)
So you are left with fruits, vegetables, nuts,
sprouts, legumes, rice and pasta.
Remember not to use processed or canned tomato sauce
with the pasta, but to make your own, using fresh ingredients.
On day six, stop cooking your food. The
above foods are permitted, but only in their raw state, which
excludes pasta and rice unless you have incredibly strong teeth and
a digestive system to match. Raw legumes can be eaten by soaking
them overnight to soften them.
Continue this way for a week.
On day 13 stop eating solid foods and drink only the juice
of fruits or vegetables. If you have a juicer use it, or buy 100%
pure shop bought juice. Make sure the juice is fresh, and not
processed or made from juice concentrate.
Stick to this for at least two, preferably three days.
For the remainder of the time return to eatin only raw
foods, while drinking as much fresh fruit or vegetable juice as
possible.
Is It Really Necessary?
An sporadic detox works because it gives your body a rest.
By channeling the body's energies away from managing meals and
snacks that are difficult to digest and metabolize, and which play
havoc with blood sugar, you can free up energy for regeneration and
cleansing. A detox routine increases your intake of foods and drinks
that serve our bodies well instead of merely adding poisonous
substances. A detox plan provides protective antioxidants and also
cuts out those bad habits that deprive us of nutrients and optimal
health.
